Usually, a portrait is just a single image, a moment, a mere sliver of a second out of the subject’s life frozen forever in time. But what if the portrait also captured their subtle facial muscle movements? Their smile? Their blink?
Welcome to A Minute With My Friends, a project in which I capture a sixty-second video portrait of my friends with one simple guideline: No Rules. A new video is published every Monday.
The videos capture more of an essence of who these people are than is possible with a single photograph. They also give the viewer an excuse to look closely, to scrutinize their face, their dimples, their eyes, all without judgment from the subject.
