My name is Brian and I help people tell their stories.
Everyone has a story to tell. From individuals to major corporations, people are always looking for ways to tell their story. Through photos, videos, on stage or online – whatever the medium – I can help tell your story.
Here are some examples of stories I helped tell:
Cirque du Soleil & Santa Monica PAL
Cirque du Monde is a social circus program created by Cirque du Soleil and Jeunesse du Monde, which targets at-risk youth. It combines circus techniques together with educational social intervention to help young people.
BCJ Media shot and edited this short video that features interviews with the coaches and participants of the Cirque du Monde / Santa Monica PAL program, as well as footage of the workshop in progress. The video played during a ceremony in January 2014 in which the City of Santa Monica, California, honored Cirque du Monde for the contributions they have made to the local community.
Zimmer Children’s Museum
The Zimmer Children’s Museum is dedicated to inspiring young people of all ages to cultivate a social conscience and embrace their responsibility to help make the world a better place. They hosted a fundraiser at the Sports Museum of Los Angeles and, with very short lead time to sell tickets, they needed a way to tell the public about multiple stories at once: themselves, the event, Jackie Robinson, the Warner Bros. film 42, and the Sports Museum. I helped by installing and customizing a brand new web site based on the popular WordPress content management system that quickly enabled the Zimmer Children’s Museum to focus their energy on sharing news and information about the event.
TEDxYouth@Hollywood 2013 was a day-long conference that featured multiple speakers and performers sharing stories about how they’ve been inspired to JUMP into life. In just less than a month before the event, I coordinated all of the audio and visual needs for each presenter. From editing photos to assembling presentations in Keynote to working closely with the stage director during the show to coordinate the content displayed on the projection screen to the audience, I succeeded in making the technology transparent so that the presenters could focus on the task at hand: telling their story.
After the event, I edited all of the conference footage into web-ready individual videos of each presentation for streaming on the TEDx YouTube channel and web site.
It’s All That Glitters
In 2009 I embarked on a three-year adventure that would take me over 14,000 miles across the United States to photograph and interview 110 burlesque performers in their homes, allowing each of them to tell the story of what burlesque means to them. This journey culminated in a coffee table book titled It’s All That Glitters: Portraits of Burlesque Performers in Their Homes. The book was published in 2012 by Schiffer Books and is available through major retail outlets.
My goal with each project is to facilitate sharing your message while making the technology transparent. My hope is that this will empower you to focus more on the what and less on the how.
So tell me, what’s your story?
